You can get sore throat anyone anytime anywhere and you need adequate solutions that work fast. There are plenty of home remedies for sore throat that you can try, but some have been tested and proven to be totally effective over the years.

You know that you need to drink tea when you have sore throat, but this is not enough. Your best bet is to choose an herbal tea from wild briar or green tea. These are packed with vitamins and Vitamin C, in particular. They can boost your immune system to fight the infection. Adding five spoons of freshly squeezed lemon juice to the tea is essential. It has Vitamin C, but it also has a great anti-bacterial action, so it can relieve your sore throat directly. You should definitely add a teaspoon of alcohol, preferably rum or cognac, to the drink. This amount of alcohol is perfectly safe even for children. In fact, most kid’s sore throat syrups contain alcohol.

Once you have all the ingredients mixed well, your sore throat home remedy is ready. You should drink it while it is warm. It should not be too hot or cold. Having cup of this drink from 4 to 6 times a day, preferably after meals, will help you get rid of your sore throat in no time. It is generally a very good remedy for colds as well. If you feel that the drink is too bitter, you can add as much honey as you like.

Still, keep in mind that when it is dissolved in liquid this substance loses some of its medicinal properties. Thus, it is best for you to use this remedy for sore throat separately. Just grab a teaspoon of honey any time you like. It will soothe your throat and have a beneficial effect on your cough, if you have one.

There is one other great home remedy for sore throat that you can use together with the drink. Dissolve one teaspoon of baking soda into a glass of water. Take a sip and gargle for as long as you can, then spit it. Repeat this three times. You can do this as often as you like, but it is essential to gargle before going to bed. The baking soda has a great antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effect.
